Summary

Industrial Boulevard is a story of crossroads. When Denton Ventura, a disillusioned young office worker, loses both his job and fiancée, he’s set adrift—until he falls in with a group of new wavers whose apathetic shrug to the world captivates him. For a while, his new life feels electric, even magical; however, Denton is soon pulled into the darker underbelly of Dallas’s underground scene in the late 1980s—a world steeped in drug abuse and shadowed by a violent feud with a vengeful, maniacal skinhead.

The last rays of the sun washed over us; night was beginning its slow consumption of light, and the rush-hour traffic fled from the ashy edges where darkness burned away the sky, replacing blue with black, the familiar with mystery, and the end of their day with the beginning of ours. Nick avoided the turnpike entrance that would have taken us quickly into Fort Worth, and he chose the slower, narrow streets rather than the more open frenzy of the highway.
